Happy December!  It’s already starting to feel like the holidays!  This week I finished two doll quilts and I need to finish binding on a pink and cuddly minky backed quilt I am gifting to some sweet little girls this weekend.  I always enjoy gifting quilts!  I have been thinking a lot lately about what the gift of a quilt means.  When I was a young mom and novice quilter in the late 90’s I made and gifted so many baby quilts to friends when we were all becoming parents  In the last year or so, two of these quilts came back to me in one way or another.  Little did I know these quilts I made so many years ago and now belong to 20 somethings were treasured and loved until they were little more than rags!  They travelled with them to college and study abroad trips and still hold a very special place for them.  For one I was able to find the original fabric in my stash and re-piece it so it can travel on with him.  I am still trying to figure out a plan for giving the other some repairs!

All this made me really think about how you never know what a quit will mean to someone when it’s given away!  It may just become their most cherished possession, even if you don’t hear about it again for 25 years!

Wishing you the most merry of holidays!!
